About

Gal Pals is a queer dance party centring queer women, trans and non-binary people.

We aim to create a dancefloor where you can let loose and feel safe and free to party in a space where you are the majority.

We run monthly parties in London at Lafayette and in Brighton at Komedia.

Who can come to Gal Pals?

Gal Pals is a space by and for queer women, trans and non-binary people.

We understand that allies may want to accompany friends from within the community. If you are not a queer woman, trans or non-binary person then you are a guest in our space and must behave as such. If you are attending as an ally, we ask that you consider why you are coming and who you are coming with.

Men in particular, please be aware of your behaviour and how your presence may make others feel. Be extra careful to not invade anyone’s personal space.

Allies

As an ally you MUST purchase an ally ticket. We will be selling a limited number of these to ensure Gal Pals remains overwhelmingly a space for queer women, trans and non-binary people.

By paying more this allows us to set aside free tickets for low income people from the community. This is one small way you can show your allyship.

Door Policy

We do not police the door in regards to gender as we believe this creates an unsafe and anxiety inducing atmosphere for our trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming guests.

If we’re selling tickets on the door we’ll ask everyone if they need a community ticket or an ally ticket. We trust our audience to be truthful.

We will never turn someone away based on their gender presentation.

Music Policy

We play music exclusively by women, non-binary and trans musicians.

We worship at the altar of pop music and believe in the power of playing music that makes people want to dance! The music will vary throughout the night but we mostly play pop, R&B, hip hop, rap, hyperpop, electro, disco and queer bangers.

You can expect to hear everything from the ABCs (Ashnikko, Beyonce and Charli XCX) to the STDs (SOPHIE, TLC and Doja Cat) and everything in between.

We have three resident DJs who play throughout the night - Scarlett Shaney, GAL9000 and XZAN.

Our resident DJs have played at Glastonbury Festival, Primavera Sound Barcelona, Brighton Pride and Manchester Pride. They have supported musicians such as Big Freedia, Mykki Blanco and Anna Calvi and collaborated with Soho House, Brighton Festival and many more. You can listen to our mixes here.

Accessibility

We want Gal Pals to be as accessible as possible for low income queer women, trans and non-binary people, and don't want our ticket prices to be a barrier to anyone attending.

We set aside a limited number of free tickets for those who need them. DM or email us at 1800galpals@gmail.com to ask for a free ticket.

Both of our venues are wheelchair accessible with accessible and gender neutral toilets throughout the venue.

If you require a PA/carer they will receive free entry, please contact us directly.

Smoke machines, flashing lights and strobe lighting will be used throughout the night on the dancefloor.

For more detailed access information please read the event descriptions on DICE. You can also email us at 1800galpals@gmail.com and let us know if there’s anything we can do to make Gal Pals more accessible for you.
